Mexico Beaches - Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel

Mexico has beautiful beaches on both the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean. In this article, we look at two hot spots on the east coast - Playa del Carmen and Cozumel

Playa del Carmen

With one of the prettiest beaches on the Caribbean coast, Playa del Carmen was the hidden gem of Mexico for years and years. About 10 years ago, the word got out and now Playa del Carmen is exploding. If you're looking for solitude, this isn't the place with cruise ships and so on packing the place during high season. On the other hand, this is definitely the place if you like a lot of "resort" in your beach vacation.

Playa del Carmen has a lot to offer to visitors. Of course, the beaches are beautiful and I highly recommend you catch the sunrise, which is some of Mother Nature's finest work. Staying up shouldn't be a problem since the nightlife in Playa del Carmen is plentiful.

During the day, you can loaf on the beach or head out for some diving in the clear waters of the Caribbean. Should you get tired of the beach, you can head inland for some surprisingly quality hiking.

Cozumel

An island off the Yucatan Peninsula, Cozumel is a slice of Caribbean paradise. With smooth, crystal clear waters, Cozumel has the white beaches you see in the Corona beer commercials. On the island proper, one can loaf on the beach, pursue world class diving or just loaf on the beach. Dolphin petting and sitting in the hammocks of Xal-Hal are touristy, but fun things to do. Although Cozumel is on cruise ship circuit, it maintains the relaxed atmosphere found in smaller destinations in the Mexican Riviera.

Unfortunately, Cozumel was in the news through much of the last week of October 2005 because Hurricane Wilma pounded it. Given a few months, Cozumel will be on the mend and a great location since prices will undoubtedly be low to attract visitors.

If you are planning a visit to the Mexican Riviera area, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel are definitely worth your consideration. Personally, I would pick Cozumel in a heart beat.

Playa Del Carmen Nightlife - Having a Great Time in Playa Del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is a town found in the coast of Caribbean Sea, northeast of Quintana Roo Mexican state. It has a population of more than a hundred thousand and still growing. It is now the third largest city of the state. Because of where Playa del Carmen is located, it has become a stopover for travelers moving from island to island. In fact, the first recorded visitors of the beaches dates back to AD 300-600.

Early Tourism

Before becoming known as the nightlife getaway, it was originally a simple fishing town. Tourism started with the passengers of a ferry service going to Cozumel, which is an island famous for its scuba diving spots. It was during the stopover when people realized how relaxing and peaceful the place is, as it is away from the crowded cities. Apart from this, the beaches have almost the same quality as the famous beaches in the state of Quintana Roo. The turquoise water is so inviting that it attracted a lot of scuba diving enthusiasts.

Playa del Carmen Today

The city is now considered as the central stopover for several cruising ships at Calica quarry, which is six miles away from the city. One of the tourist attractions of the city is the Xcaret, which is a Mexican eco-archaeological themed park found in the south portion of Playa. But the center of Playa del Carmen nightlife is on Quinta Avenida or the Fifth Avenue, located just a block from the beaches where boutiques, hotels, restaurants, shops, and bars line up, all ready to be explored by visitors. Although there has been an effort on the part of the government and local community to preserve the reputation of the city as a small town fishing village, the fact remains that more and more tourists are getting attracted to the Playa del Carmen nightlife.

Love the Nightlife

The beaches are so mesmerizing that you would love to take a walk or just be by the shore in a bar or a restaurant during the night. The bars and nightclubs provide you with entertainment until the wee hours of the morning. You can be seated outdoors, on the roofdeck, or on the street side for a more relaxing mood and ambiance. There is nothing compared to listening to live music while drinking your favorite cold drink, tequila, or wine perhaps. You can also enjoy an exotic dish and later on dance the night away on the sand or on the dance floor under the stars. The popular nightlife includes:

Alux. This is a resto-bar in a cave, giving an underworld experience of dining and clubbing among the stalactites.

Bali. This is an alternative adventure for people who like to party under the Balinese setting

Blue Parrot. This offers the reggae hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. The place is actually considered the landmark of Playa del Carmen nightlife, giving entertainment from daytime to nighttime.

Playa del Carmen nightlife may not be as lively as the more popular Cancun nightlife, it is still one of the reasons tourists come to Playa del Carmen.

Congratulations Cameron Beckman, 2010 MGC Champion!

Cameron Beckman won the 2010 Mayakoba Golf Classic for his third PGA TOUR title, closing with a 4-under 67 in the final round for a two-stroke victory over Brian Stuard and third-round leader Joe Durant.

2010 saw the Mayakoba Golf Classic welcome record crowds and a fierce competition for the winner's share of the $3.6 million USD purse. The 40-year-old Beckman, three strokes behind Durant at the start of the final round, finished at 15-under 269. The title marks Beckman's third career PGA TOUR victory; his previous championships came in 2001 and 2008.

"I'm cruising along playing and, all of a sudden, I know I'm tied for the lead," Beckman said. "That makes you nervous. Now you know you've got a chance to win and you've really got to tighten up and concentrate. You know, a lot of things go through your mind. Winning out here is tough. There's really no easy way to do it. I've done it a couple different ways now, but it's a great feeling."

What was the key to the victory?

"Without question, putting," Beckman said. "I mean, I hit the ball well, also, but this is probably the best I've putted in a long time. Probably since the last time I won. I just put a new putter in play two weeks ago, and just absolutely putted beautifully on these greens. Just a beautiful week of putting."

Beaches, historical attractions, and local comforts are served up in abundant quantities, and everything you need for a memorable seaside getaway is at your fingertips for a Playa del Carmen getaway to remember.

The central part of Playa del Carmen, or Playa as it is commonly called, offers a wide beach that gradually narrows as it winds it way past the various vendors, beach bars, and restaurants. While you will find a sparkling white sands and gorgeous turquoise waters that are ripe for swimming, the beach can become narrow and rocky as the winds and current change. If this happens during your sunbathing hours, it is a good idea to move north and enjoy the gorgeous fine sands of Playa Tukan. As one of the best beaches in the area, be sure to rent a canopy bed and stake out a prime sunning spot early so you can experience this beautiful stretch of sand at your own leisure.

While strolling along the sands and soaking up the tropical breeze are ideal for forgetting your worries, more active pursuits are at your disposal along the banks of this stunning paradise. Scuba diving and snorkeling are available around reefs and caverns that can be accessed far offshore, but a better option lies around the island of Cozumel. Simply hop aboard the ferry and you are on your way towards underwater adventures beyond compare. If you are looking for boat and deep-sea fishing charters, your best bet is to try the nearby community of Puerto Aventuras.

Impossible to miss since it is the starting point for essentially every Playa del Carmen excursion, Quinta Avenida (or 5th Avenue) is a 14-block extravaganza where pedestrians can stroll the cobblestone-lined streets and soak up the distinct and lively atmosphere. Buzzing with bars, clubs, restaurants, shops, and vendors, you can pick up a few souvenirs, enjoy some tasty cuisine, or plan your seaworthy adventures along this bustling thoroughfare.

If you can pull yourself away from the refreshing waters, fine white sand, and excitement of Quinta Avenida, other towns along the coast offer some must-see historical attractions that are sure to leave you spellbound. The Coba and Tulum Ruins are easily within striking distance and offer stunning examples of Mayan settlements and civilization. Although the Coba Ruins have not been reconstructed or uncovered to the same degree as the Tulum Ruins, they are still worth the effort for the striking pyramid and mysterious aura. The Tulum Ruins, the most visited archaeological site in Mexico, feature a massive wall that surrounds the imposing civilization and is one of only a few in the Mayan culture.

Two other sights that certainly should not be missed are the nature parks Xcaret and Xel-Ha. Xcaret, located just south of Playa del Carmen, is a spectacular eco-park that features a gorgeous swimming beach, a butterfly pavilion, a museum with models of ancient Maya cities, and numerous other outdoor pursuits. Xel-Ha is a natural wonderland where waterways and paths wind their way through a tropical jungle and past crystal-clear lagoons and coves. When you aren’t soaking in the stunning scenery, snorkeling around schools of multicolored fish and swimming with the dolphins are all popular in this area.

Playa del Carmen is a land of endless opportunities, where you can swim, play, and explore to your heart’s content in a shockingly simple and diverse waterfront riviera. Always commanding attention for its stunning natural beauty and its exciting attractions, you can surround yourself with the best the Mayan Riviera has to offer in Playa del Carmen vacation rentals. Resting along the sparkling white sands and within sight of the clear Caribbean waters, the finest pleasures of a seaside vacation are just a short stroll away morning and night. Set our own agenda or follow the pace of the town, whatever you want out of your Mexico getaway, Playa del Carmen rentals are always an accommodating host.

No matter what level of thrill you are looking for there is something to do here, between hanging out on the beach and stomping around ruins.

Under the Caribbean

The exuberant Queen Angel fish is common in the waters off Playa del Carmen. With the fantastic Caribbean Sea being the center of attention for most visitors, a number of attractions are focused on the water. The amazing coral reefs with its multitude of marine life have made diving the number one sport around here. The reef along the coast is a part of the second biggest barrier reef in the world, exceeded only by the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. There are plenty of dive shops around Playa that offer one- and two tank dives, night dives, wreck dives, cavern and cave dives and dive courses of all levels. You don’t have to be certified to dive. If you just want to try it out, you can do a Discover Scuba, which is a trial dive with an instructor, preceded by a lesson in the pool. Read more about diving.

Along the beach you will find windsurfing boards, little sailboats and wave runners for rent. Now you can even go kite surfing here – talk to Miguel in Explora, on the beach by Playa Tukan (Calle 26). A different way to see Playa is from above, while parasailing. Don’t miss out on the possibility to catch a marlin or a sail fish when in Playa. Read more about that in Deep Sea Fishing. If you would rather just relax on the water, you can charter a catamaran for that day cruise with your friends.

Granted, it might be difficult for you to pull away from the water, but the fact is that there is more to this area than first meets the eye. Read more about the Mayan World in Mundo Maya, and about other ‘non-sporty’ things to do in, that’s right, Things To Do.

Want to Stay Dry?

If you want to stay away from the water and the beach, but you want to do something active, Playa and the area has other sports to offer as well. As any true first class vacation spot, Playa has an excellent 18-hole golf course designed by Robert van Hagge. It is located in Playacar, just south of town. The loop around Playacar is also a good place to go jogging, as well as the beach of course. There is a 9-hole golf course in Puerto Aventuras, which also has a good reputation. Visit the nice gym on Calle 8 to work out those biceps; they also offer classes in aerobics, yoga and more.

The municipal sports center on 10th Avenue is a great place to exercise in Playa del Carmen. The sports center on 10th Avenue, Unidad Deportiva, has tennis courts, basketball courts and a running track. Tennis court fees are 3 usd per hour and everything else is free of charge. A few different places close to Playa del Carmen offer horseback riding, usually through the jungle and on the beach. Different horse powers are employed on the ATV jungle tour, just south of Playa. On your drive through the jungle you’ll get to see cenotes, caves and ruins! If you are a real thrill seeker you can throw yourself out of a airplane in an unforgettable tandem parachute jump over Playa.

Located on the crystal blue waters of the Mexican Caribbean, Playa del Carmen is just 40 miles (60 kms.) south of Cancun. Playa, as it is known as to locals, is the perfect spot from which to explore the fascinating sites of The Mayan Riviera. Playa del Carmen is known for its miles of white sandy beaches, phosphorescent Caribbean waters, and its laid back attitude. Playa del Carmen is a place for those in search of a unique visit, vibrant people, amazing Mayan culture, and an overall travel experience that you will never forget. So come and enjoy everything Playa del Carmen and The Riviera Maya has to offer; you will not be disappointed The once quiet seaside village of Playa del Carmen has doubled in population over the past few years, mainly due to foreigners such as Europeans, South Americans, Americans and Canadians who have discovered this little slice of paradise. Playa del Carmen is a place to enjoy amazing beaches, and the famous cenotes by day and trendy eateries, bars, and restaurants by night. The eclectic mix of backpackers, archeological experts, dive junkies, and young hipsters makes Playa del Carmen an incredibly unique and interesting place.

Due to its location, Playa del Carmen, is a veritable hub to outer lying ruins, dive spots, and the concept of "La Ruta Maya". You will not find La Ruta Maya on your travel map or even in your travel guide because it is not a set route but a concept. Originally the Ruta Maya was to be a new idea in traveling: a specific mapped out area connecting major Mayan archaeological sites and nature preserves throughout southern Mexico and some Central American countries. In reality La Ruta Maya has become to include the Mexican states of Chiapas, Yucatan, Campeche and Quintana Roo, all of Belize and Guatemala and parts of Honduras. Now travelers who are hoping to experience these amazing parts of Mexico and Central America flock to Playa del Carmen as their window into the Mayan World. Because of where Playa is located there are bus routes through out Mexico and Central America that originate in the area. So, many people come to the area and use Playa del Carmen as their "home base" while they travel onto Palenque, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, or some other far reaching destination.

The amazing archeological sites sprinkled through out the region such as Tulum, Coba, Ek Balam, and Chichen Nitza are major attractions to people coming to visit the area. Bringing archeologist's, graduate students, and self proclaimed archeological buffs from all over the world. Visiting one, or several, of the ruin sites is a MUST DO when visiting the area. The area is so rich in history and culture it would be a real shame to miss out on learning a bit about where you are. In addition to amazing archeological sites, there are multiple natural wonders scattered through out the Riviera Maya. For example the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve near Tulum. Sian Kaan is an ecotourism and educational center, and it serves as a model for sustainable development in sensitive tropical ecosystems. They offer tours and accommodations which in turn fund their research. So if you want to check it out, it is worth looking into and it is an incredible project to support.

There is also Xel-Ha and Xcaret, ecotourism theme parks both of which are located between Playa del Carmen, and Tulum. They offer both fun in the sun, and wildlife conservation which in turn is a great combination. Crococun is a Park and Regional Zoo located north of Playa del Carmen. Originally designed to farm crocodiles to create a sustainable resource it is now a conservationist park. The kids are sure to love it with its crazy monkeys, beautiful parrots, rare Mayan dogs, local deer, and of course tons of crocodiles! Another must see while in the area is Aktun Chen where you will have a chance to learn about local flora and fauna, and our famous cenote system, with a specialized guide.

There are countless attractions both large and small through out the area that will appeal to all levels of travelers and visitors. Long before Playa del Carmen became a hotspot vacation destination the area was known around the world to dive aficionados as a truly top notch location for under water exploration. They discovered years ago that under the watchful eyes of the ancient Maya in the warm Caribbean waters off the Yucatan Peninsula exists a truly amazing underwater world: where divers can explore the reefs of the Riviera Maya swimming with turtles and schools of Tarpon. They drift along the coral covered walls of famous Cozumel Island named by Jacques Cousteau as one of the best dive spots in the world. And they discover the incredible serenity of daylight cavern diving in the famous Mexican Cenotes - the worlds largest fresh water system formed over tens of thousands of years ago. So if you are certified dive "junkie" or if you want to join the onslaught of underwater explorers we suggest you contact some of the best divers in the area. If diving isn't your thing, and you would prefer to float on top of the water looking down, there are countless snorkel spots that are truly exceptional.

Akumal is a great snorkel spot with the amazing Yal Kul Lagoon , and Half Moon Bay , both of which have had countless sea turtle sightings. Yal Kul Lagoon is a mixed water lagoon, with sweet water from the underground river system, and an inlet from the Caribbean allowing the sea water to mix with the sweet water. This creates a kind of shimmery oil effect that is rare to see, and in turn creates an eclectic variety of underwater creatures, and coral to check out. Half Moon Bay is located off of La Buena Vida, a perfect place to grab a bite, enjoy a happy hour libation, or lounge on the beach as you intermittently snorkel the reef in search of the famous Akumal turtles. In addition to these two amazing snorkel locations any dive shop, hotel, or tour company offers snorkeling excursions to more remote areas. One worth checking out is the Ocean Adventure Tour , which offers high speed F1 ocean transport, cenote exploration, snorkeling, local fare, and cocktails. It is a great way to enjoy an afternoon enabling you to experience a multitude of activities in a cool laid back way.

Fat Cat Catamaran Tour is another great way to check out the area, based out of Puerto Aventuras, Fat Cat offers a fun version of a "booze cruise". With the tunes blasting, the beer flowing, and a brand new 50 foot luxury catamaran how can you go wrong? You can lounge on deck, kick back under the shaded area, take a turn on the boom net, and snorkel in hard to reach destinations. Not to mention the unbelievable beaches you will get to visit! For those of you who like to go motorized, one of the longest running tours in the area, ATV Explorer , is a total blast. Located in the jungle just West of the beach a few minutes south of Playa del Carmen, ATV Explorer offers a great introduction to the area. Blasting through the jungle on your own ATV you will see a Mayan ruin, experience local fauna and flora (keep you eyes peeled for the crazy monkeys on Monkey Loop), and dive into one of the freshest, deepest cenotes in the area. As you can see there are countless things to do and see while visiting Playa del Carmen and The Rivera Maya. From remote cave dives, to amazing archeological sights, not to mention the bright blue Caribbean and white sandy beaches, you are sure to take home memories that will last you a life time!

Playa del Carmen is a city on the coast of the Caribbean Sea in the northeast of the Mexican state Quintana Roo. It is a little slice of heaven here on earth. It is a modern village nestled on one of the most beautiful beaches of the Riviera Maya. The beach is among one of the top reasons why tourists flock to Playa del Carmen. They have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and every year more and more tourists come to the beaches at Playa del Carmen.

History

The Area was actually named after Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patron saint of Cancun. Some of the earliest visitors of the Playa del Carmen beaches were recorded during the early classic period of the Mayan civilization. The location of Playa del Carmen made it as a sort of rest stop of sorts for travelers making their way from the great cities of the Mayan world and off to Cozumel.

When the Spaniards arrived, most of the coast and the lowlands of the peninsula were still heavily populated with the descendants of the fallen race. During the seventeenth and eighteenth century, the Caribbean coast was considered a savage place with not much to offer to the ordinary settler.

The Rise of the Playa del Carmen Beach

Today, Playa del Carmen is considered to have one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Their tourism started with a passenger ferry service to Cozumel, which is a world famous scuba diving destination. While passing through the place, a lot of people realized that it was a beautiful place to relax away from the crowds and yet still get the same great quality beaches and turquoise waters.

The Carmen beach, just like Cozumel, also offers good scuba diving opportunities as well as cenote diving. Today, the area is a stop for several cruise ships. Apart from the beauty of the beaches, there is Xcaret, which is a Mexican themed eco-archaeological park and a well-known tourist attraction located south of the town. Along the Riviera Maya, the seasons change but the climate always manages to stay mild. You will experience a swirl of colors, tastes, and perfumes filling the air. In the afternoon beaches turn into a beautiful shade of turquoise during springtime with bursts of exotic flowers. The white sand of the Playa del Carmen beach never turns hot and is special for relaxing around a natural environment.

The Playa del Carmen beach is perfect for diving and divers of all levels. You can try out a simple course or a complete diving vacation. If you've never tried it, then you can definitely find an instructor in the area and get a chance to dive. You can dive along the world's second largest barrier reef and be amazed and mesmerized by its multicolored corals and marine creatures. Playa del Carmen beach is definitely a true paradise here on earth.

Beaches and Weather in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya Mexico

Millions of people a year flock to Playa del Carmen, and the Riviera Maya, to escape cold weather, get a reprieve from work pressures, and take time off for serious rest and relaxation. The major attractions to the area are the white sandy beaches, the amazing crystalline waters, the laid back Caribbean attitude, and the warm tropical weather.

The climate in the Riviera Maya is semi-tropical, with an average yearly temperature of 80° degrees Fahrenheit (26 ° Celsius), which can rise to 100° degrees Fahrenheit (37.7° Celsius) in the hot summer months. June first is official start of hurricane season and ends on November 30th. From November to April, which is considered high season here;it is hot and sunny during the day and cool and breezy at night.

February to May February, March, April, and May are beautiful in The Rivera Maya. The Caribbean Sea is calm and clear and as summer approaches the water temperatures gradually rise. With warmer waters by May this is usually the time that the jelly fish, or "agua mala" come to our shores. So May is a perfect time of year to go cenote hunting! Nights can still be cool, but a sweater is rarely needed.

June to August During the summer months Playa del Carmen and The Rivera Maya are hot, hot, hot! The humidity rises so afternoons are steamy and hot. We highly recommend you stay close to a water source. The Caribbean is so warm you can float the day away, and the cenotes stay at an even 78 degrees (25.5C) which is always refreshing. There is some rainfall in the afternoon and evenings, but it never lasts very long. The nights do not get much cooler so for a truly good night sleep air-conditioning and a good fan are highly recommended.

September and October September and October are considered the height of the hurricane and tropical storm season. We also can get a fair amount of rain during these months, however it doesn't rain everyday. It is still hot and humid with days and evenings registering similar temperatures.

November to January These are the coolest months in Playa del Carmen and the surrounding areas, which means it is warm and sunny during the day and cool and breezy in the evenings. Rain is very rare during this time of year, but evenings can bring temps in the high 60's (15.5C) so a sweater is recommended.

Warm weather wear: Playa del Carmen and The Rivera Maya's weather does not fluctuate that significantly though out the year. It is the tropics so lightweight cotton clothing, beach wraps (pareos),, and bathing suits are what you spend the majority of your time in. During the day, the climate is hot and light clothing, such as shorts and tank tops, are recommended. During the evenings you may need a light sweater or jacket depending on the time of year. For trips into the jungle, you should wear pants, long-sleeved shirts and shoes in order to fend off mosquitoes and other insect bites. Sturdy shoes should always be worn if you plan on going to see any archeological sights to keep you sure footed and able to explore.

Beaches and Beach Clubs in Playa del Carmen and The Rivera Maya

Nuddy Beach Club and Bar: Located both in Playa del Carmen and in Tulum, Nuddy beach, pronounced nudie, is the quintessential beach club with lounger beds, bathing beauties, trendy tunes, and buckets of beers. Located just south of Mamitas Beach in Playa del Carmen, and about a mile south of the ruins in Tulum, it is a great place to people watch and enjoy everything the Mayan Rivera has to offer.

Mamitas Beach: Located in Playa del Carmen, Mamitas Beach and Beach Club has been around for years, but after being severely damaged by Hurricane Wilma, it has received a major facelift, and it is a favorite beach spot for both locals and visitors. It has beautiful covered beach beds, beach volleyball, excellent beach access, great tunes, and a restaurant and bar on site. It is also the annual host for the fashion show produced by Fashion TV. The best way to get to Mamitas is by the access road on Avenue First South between 28th and 30th Streets.

Tukan Beach: Tukan Beach and Beach Club is located directly between Mamitas and Nuddy Beach. Recently it also had a major face lift similar to Mamitas. Actually Tukan and Mamitas kind of just meld together to create the ultimate beach experience. Beautiful beaches, beautiful people, yummy food, water sports, and premiere lounging spots, you will not be disappointed.

Coco Beach: Considered as the northern beach this is a bit of a jaunt from Playa Mamitas and Playa Tukan, Coco Beach is considered to be more laid back and less trendy then its sister beaches to the south. But keep in mind that it is getting developed and there is a beach club in the works for the upcoming season.

Xpu-ha Beach: Located just south of Puerto Aventuras you can access this amazing stretch of beach by a sign that reads "La Playa" on your left hand side. If you miss the turn you can go a bit further south and there is a very small access road just north of the Copacabana Resort. This stretch of beach is a true slice of heaven with palm trees sprinkled along the shoreline, excellent snorkeling, and various cafes and bars that you can grab a bite to eat or a cold beer. Although there are a few resorts that have access to this beach that have yet to take over completely and you can definitely while away an afternoon relaxing, and enjoying this quiet and tranquil Caribbean beach.

Tulum Beach and Playa Paraiso: Just to the south of the Tulum ruins there is an incredible stretch of beach even less populated then Xpu Ha. There are small palapa style hotelitos and cabanas along this beach that you can stay in that are relatively inexpensive. At the same time there are also trendy and chic beach resorts such as Mezzanine that will pamper you silly. Tulum is a very popular spot for kite boarding so you are likely to see the skyline peppered with colorful kites on a windy day. Overall this is one of our favorite beach spots that is in our area.

Topless beaches in Playa del Carmen and The Rivera Maya: Although it is actually illegal to sunbathe nude or topless on Mexico beaches, in Playa del Carmen and the Rivera Maya, it is tolerated. Due to the major European influences in the area most beaches you will see topless sun worshippers trying to get as much sun on their bare bodies. There are also clothing optional resorts and spas that cater to couples who want to vacation in the buff. Some remote area beaches you can strip down and bare it all. Keep in mind that Mexican Nationals are a conservative bunch so respect the locals, and if you are in a remote area keep a beach wrap close by. In addition women should always practice caution and safely if sunbathing nude or topless in a tucked away location or low traffic area.

Enjoy your stay in Playa del Carmen!
